Lemony Snicket is my literary hero. I want to be just like him when I grow up. Only not as sad or hunted by multiple enemies.
As an older reader, I adored the layers of story built into Mr. Snicket’s exquisitely tragic Series of Unfortunate Events. Each book had clues to the mystery of Mr. Snicket, his beloved Beatrice, and an incident involving a sugar bowl. Through all 13 volumes, I puzzled over these clues in an attempt to understand more of this enigmatic character and why his life had taken such a woeful turn.
I even sent an email to Mr. Snicket via his publisher. I was informed (by the single greatest form response ever) that it was not a wise decision to have done so and I should cease attempting correspondence for my own safety. That email is possibly why I am employed today and not hiding from multiple enemies.
However, I have been assured by our friends at Harper Collins Canada that it is safe to share with all of you the news of Mr. Snicket’s new four book series All The Wrong Questions, which will be illustrated by Canadian artist Seth. We've been told that it's "an authorized autobiographical account of [Lemony Snicket's] childhood." The first book entitled Who Could That Be at This Hour? releases on October 23, 2012. We at Indigo will inform you if we receive any more correspondence regarding this matter from Mr. Snicket’s representative, Daniel Handler. Until then, keep your hat pulled low and your collar turned up high.
The best of luck— but more likely the worst—to you all.
