Michelle Hodkin's debut novel, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, terrified readers with one question: What if things were happening to you -- unexplainable things -- and no one believed you?  I tore through this book as if I were running a race to the finish. The terrifying one-liners at the end of each chapter made it impossible to put down.

For this reason, I swooned when a copy of The Evolution of Mara Dyer landed on my desk.  Evolution picks up where Unbecoming concluded, with Mara convinced that she is being hunted.  But what plagued me the most was Mara's own hunt for her sanity.  Hodkin is a master of the psyche, raising questions of the conscious and unconscious, the power of thought and desire, but mostly the sheer panic that arises when you realize that you cannot trust yourself.

And then there is Noah Shaw.  For those of you who fell in love with Mr. Shaw in The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, I can guarantee that the heat is cranked way up in this book!  Even after all they endured in the first book, Mara is wary of the things Noah is still concealing from her.  Prepare to be shocked and appalled.  Also, bring a fan.  You are going to get hot and bothered by some of the romantic scenes!
